Reason to Learn the Guitar No.2

Jason Becker's story is simultaneously horrifying and inspiring. He was a prodigiously talented guitarist and in his late teens joined up with his friend Marty Friedman, creating the excellent speed metal band Cacophony. With one excellent(Speed Metal Symphony) and one okay(Go Off!) album release, Jason then released an excellent solo album(Perpetual Burn). After a short stint with David Lee Roth, Jason was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or Lou Gherig's disease. This means that Jason is now a quadraplegic, but in spite of that, he has still managed to compose two albums of new material, full of exquisite compositions, like the one above.

Reason to Learn the Guitar No. 1

I had the privilege to see this man live once, he was opening for Eric Johnson. That may have been a mistake.
